What happens on the first visit?
1. Once you schedule your appointment, here are some tips to remember:
· Come 10-15 minutes early so that you will get back for your appointment with the doctor on time (you can now download
the files below to have ready before the appointment)
· The entire first visit (typically a 40 minute appointment slot) will be dedicated to a detailed evaluation of you or your child.
· Please bring any important documents that you have with you (list of medications, x-ray/MRI reports, police/accident reports,
etc.)
· If you need to cancel or reschedule your visit, please allow a 24 hr. notice to cancel your appointment, this allows a fair
chance for others needing chiropractic care to see the doctor as well.
2. After all necessary paperwork is filled out and you sign in with the front desk staff, you will then have a consultation.
3. You will then be given a complete, thorough examination by Dr. Heather.
(Some things that may be done in the examination include: testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations as applicable. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.)
4. After your examination, Dr. Heather will determine if any x-ray studies or laboratory studies will needed to be ordered and will send you to the proper location to receive these studies.
5. Dr. Heather will then perform any ART or Kinesiotaping or other soft tissue modalities. A chiropractic adjustment will not be performed, unless in special circumstances, until Dr. Heather has reviewed all necessary examination findings and/or x-ray, laboratory study results. The chiropractic examination, along with a report of findings will be given on the patient’s second visit. This is to ensure that Dr. Heather gives you the proper care that you need. At this time, if it is determined that chiropractic is not the answer for your complaint, then other alternatives will be discussed as well as referrals.
